Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace:

The Health Insurance Marketplace is a platform that offers insurance plans to individuals, families, and small businesses. The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also called ‘Obamacare’, established the Marketplace as a means to extend health insurance coverage to millions of uninsured Americans. The Marketplace is available to those who do not have access to health insurance through employer-sponsored plans or whose employers’ plans are too expensive. The Marketplace enables various insurers to compete for customers by offering a variety of plans based on cost and need.

Medicaid:

Medicaid is a program created by the federal government and is the primary public program for financing basic health and long-term care services for low-income Alaskans. The program focuses on coverage for low-income children, pregnant women, families, adults without dependent children, adults between the ages of 19 and 64, the elderly, blind and the permanently disabled.

Medicare:

Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 years or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD).
